2020 General Guidance for Athletics
Safety Requirements for Sports to Practice or Compete
The practice of daily symptom assessments will continue, using the same recording documents that we haveused all summer.
Anyone experiencing symptoms must stay home.
All coaches will participate in COVID-19 education.
Coaches will document that they shared information with their players.
No congregating will be permitted before or after contests.
Officials and players will be expected to wear face masks/coverings at all times when not competing.
Coaches, athletic trainers, and volunteers will be expected to wear face masks/coverings.
Hand sanitizer will be available at all venues.
Spectators
Signage will ask spectators to conduct daily assessments and to stay home if experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.
Signage will direct family members to sit only with household members and stay distanced six feet from others.
Signage will discourage congregating.
All spectators will be expected to wear face masks/coverings.
The 15% capacity limit will be enforced at all venues.
That limit will be established per stadium, gym, etc.
Tickets will be prioritized to the family members of the athletes.
When feasible, one-way entrances and exits will be identified.
As much as possible, contact-free ticketing will be used.
In some sports with small venues, venues will be emptied between contests
Practices/Games/Tournaments
All orders will be complied with regarding the number of participatants in any contest as well as the number of opponents in a given day.
Equipment
Communal water will not be provided for home or visiting teams.
Players are expected to provide their own bottled water/water bottle.
Equipment will be sanitized regularly.
Athletic Facilities
Spaces will be allocated in a manner that allows for cleaning in between use.
Locker rooms, weight rooms, athletic trainer rooms will be sanitized regularly.
Food concessions will adhere to Ohio’s guidance for Restaurants, Bars, Banquet and Catering Facilities and will only sell prepackaged food items.
Hand sanitizer will be available in all facilities.
Ventilation systems will be running where available.
Travel
All persons on a bus will wear face masks/coverings.
Pre-travel symptom and temperature checks will be conducted and recorded.
Players will be required to either ride the bus or ride in a car with their own family.
Athletes will not be permitted to carpool.
Suspected/Confirmed COVID-19 Cases
Schools will comply with all directives in the Director’s Order related to reacting to, quarantining, and communicating about confirmed and/or suspected cases.
Any athlete with a confirmed case of COVID-19 will not be permitted to return to play or practice until a release signed by a health care provider has been submitted.
